Storm Damage Let The Professionals Handle Flood Damage Remediation in Irvington Flood damage can take a huge toll on your property. Contact the professionals at SERVPRO today for help.

Addressing Various Issues Cropping Up After Flood Damage in Your Irvington Home

Flooding can dump significant amounts of water in your property, ruining it in different ways. However, water damage is not the only problem that occurs from a flooding incident. Falling trees and high-speed storm winds can leave torn roofs and other physical damages. Flooding might also dump contaminated materials such as raw sewage inside your home. Hiring a professional restoration crew can help restore your property to its preloss state.

The steps you take immediately after flood damage hits your Irvington home should help save the structure and contents. Saving more items reduces the financial costs and sentimental losses left by the incident. Our SERVPRO technicians help protect your structure by boarding it up or installing roof tarps to cover openings. We can also help move items if there is a risk of water affecting them or if already wet, to prevent further deterioration.

Flooding mostly involves muddy groundwater, which soils all the areas it affects. In some cases, it might also contain dangerous contaminants such as raw sewage. A thorough cleanup is, therefore, an essential part of the restoration process. The floodwater also damages many building materials such as drywall necessitating teardown, which piles up the debris left after the incident. Our SERVPRO technicians help perform controlled demolition where needed without creating unnecessary wastes. We use advanced equipment during the cleanup, including multi-surface scrubbers and pressure washers to ensure we clean your house to a sanitary state.

Cleaning and other restoration steps deal with the severe issues associated with flooding incidents. However, they might not restore the property to its preloss state. Problems like bad odor and changes to the appearance of surfaces such as walls or ceilings due to paint chirping or stains may persist. Our SERVPRO technicians help deal with these problems deodorization and applying new finishes. We use ULV foggers, hydroxyl generators, and other advanced equipment to control orders. We also repaint surfaces, matching the colors with unaffected surfaces to restore the preloss appearance of your property.

To address the effects of flooding efficiently, call SERVPRO of Northeast Portland to help. You can reach us at (503) 287-4542 any time. We're Faster To Any Size Disaster.

Don’t Tackle Fire Damage Remediation In Portland Alone

Fire Damage Don’t Tackle Fire Damage Remediation In Portland Alone Sometimes a nice simple night can cause devastating fire damage to your Portland home. Contact SERVPRO today for remediation assistance.

Removing Smoke Residues from Carpeting in Portland Homes

Smoke residue comes from carcinogens left behind after combustion from a fire spreading through your Portland property. These effects can be a common sight after a structure fire, and contending with these symptoms is nothing that a homeowner should attempt to do on their own. Improperly cleaning up smoke damages can lead to staining and unsalvageable smearing of the surface. Staining of areas like carpeting can all but ensure that these materials must get removed and replaced, regardless of their proximity to the actual heart of the fire loss.

With so many lingering fire damage symptoms in your Portland residence following an emergency, homeowners tend to fixate on the most pressing of these concerns. A good restoration company like our SERVPRO team can address all of these problems, often simultaneously, to ensure that restoration and recovery occur as quickly and cost-effectively as possible. When addressing smoke residues throughout the property, we have multiple approaches that must get employed.

First, we must assess the full scope of this damage with a thorough inspection of the property. Once all of the areas where smoke effects exist have gotten noted, we can begin with cleaning up the mess. With carpeting, it is wise to begin with our high-powered HEPA vacuums. These tools can pull a high volume of looser sediment from the surface to prevent smearing from other restorative practices to follow.

We have premier carpet cleaning services that can not only address the remaining soot and smoke residues within the fibers, but can also reach to the base of this material to remove built-up debris, dust, dander, and other contaminants from its daily traffic. With practices like hot water extraction, we can quickly and completely remove lingering smoke residues in the carpets to prevent their replacement when possible.

Homeowners must contend with a considerable volume of smoke and soot after a widespread fire loss incident. You can count on our SERVPRO of Northeast Portland team to offer effective cleanup and recovery solutions to make these effects “Like it never even happened.” Give us a call anytime at (503) 287-4542.

What Should You do When Your Water Heater Causes Damage in Your Portland Home?

Water Damage What Should You do When Your Water Heater Causes Damage in Your Portland Home? No matter the size of the water loss, SERVPRO of Northeast Portland is here to help.

Water Tank Spill in Portland Leaves Water Damage Challenge for SERVPRO

In a study of water damage conducted by the Institute of Business and Home Safety, water heaters counted in the top five for water losses in properties. Because they hold anywhere from thirty to eighty gallons of water depending on tank size, with fifty being the average, a failure that results in spillage can cause significant problems.

A homeowner contacted SERVPRO to mitigate water damage in Portland from a seal failure on 30-gallon gas water. During the initial call, the SERVPRO technician ensured both the water and gas were turned off in the home for safety.

On arrival, while one set of technicians extracted water, another team of techs began scoping the area from the water tank outward to trace the probable migration path of the water using our moisture detection equipment. The homeowner contacted us to start cleanup quickly which worked in his favor, as the water had no time to wick into sheetrock or subflooring.

We used portable pumps and squeegees for extraction on the tile flooring around the water tank, the utility room where it opened into a carpeted hallway. Our technicians chose to use Rovers for the removal of moisture from the carpet. The highly maneuverable Rover units use the weight of the technician to push water up and out of the padding resulting in less retained moisture to dry.

We know water loss situations are among the most stressful events homeowners face, and we try to mitigate the damage fast and save as many home contents as possible avoiding the expense from having to replace items.

Before we deployed our air movers, we performed specialized setups including the Injecti-Dry to direct air directly into the wall cavities to bring the moisture levels down to healthy levels and negate the formation of mold or foul odors. We positioned air mover to force warm, dry under the carpeting using a technique known as "floating" to dry the padding and underside of the carpet at the same time.

Call SERVPRO of Northeast Portland at the first sign of water damage for fast and efficient cleanup. Our emergency response team is available 24/7 at (503) 287-4542 to make your water loss "Like it never even happened."

Should Fire Damage in Your Portland Home Take Over Your Life?

Fire Damage Should Fire Damage in Your Portland Home Take Over Your Life? Fire damage remediation can be a serious burden. Don't try and handle that burden alone, call SERVPRO today.

IAQ Concerns That Make Life Difficult After a Portland Housefire

While you have many things to worry about after a fire sweeps through your Portland home, many homeowners might not realize that it could be unsafe for them to be in the house until certain restorative actions have taken place. Without the proper assessment of damage and risks after a fire completed by competent professionals like ours, many risks and concerns can go unchecked or unnoticed and present health risks and dangers to those exposed. Among the most common of these are indoor air quality concerns that could be damaging to your health.

As fires move throughout a Portland home, many materials and products can get caught up in the blaze and affect the fire damages that result. With indoor air quality concerns, these often develop by the combustion of specific materials or the presence of chemicals and other substances turned into a gaseous presence in the house. Our SERVPRO professionals can work quickly to identify these risks, but also begin this assessment with full personal protective equipment to keep our technicians safe.

Air purification is the necessary next step in addressing these concerns when they get found by our SERVPRO team. This phase is a portion of the mitigation work that your home requires after a fire occurs, and involves the use of our sophisticated equipment to begin filtering and cleaning the air in the exposed portions of the property. Hydroxyl generators and ozone machines are vital in this step, as they can address multiple concerns simultaneously.

With onboard HEPA filters, these two distinctly different machines have a similar goal. Their primary purpose is to filter out contaminants, debris, dust, and particulates from the environment. In a secondary sense, they can both play a significant role in reducing or eliminating lingering odors as well.

We know that there are many hurdles involved in fully recovering any property after fire loss incidents. You can count on the fast response and experience of our SERVPRO of Northeast Portland technicians to make the effects in your home, including IAQ threats, “Like it never even happened.” Give us a call at (503) 287-4542.

Water Damage Easy Steps to Water Damage Remediation in Portland With SERVPRO Cleaning up after water damage is a giant headache. Save yourself the agitation and contact SERVPRO today.

Let the Professionals Handle the Water Damage to Your Home in Portland

Water damage can occur to any home at any time. It does not take a natural disaster for your walls to be saturated with water and your belongings soaking wet. Grasping the full impact of a water event can be overwhelming, especially when you are unsure of how it affects structural elements and their integrity. Allowing a professional team to respond quickly and assess the damage and its ramifications is the first step in mitigating your losses and restoring your home.

If your home is the victim of water damage in Portland, SERVPRO is ready to help. Our team is prepared to jump into action upon receiving your call, day or night. We are available 24/7 to respond to your emergency and begin the process of extraction and drying as soon as possible. Leaving standing water unattended only exacerbates the problems associated with wet surfaces such as drywall and carpets. Wet materials all become breeding grounds for mold and bacteria as they weaken due to the moisture and humidity.

Some homeowners attempt to extract water by renting equipment at their local home improvement store, but they risk leaving water residue behind. Our SERVPRO crew specializes in extraction techniques and have at our disposal a variety of options. Whether your job requires a truck-mounted pump, a submersible pump, a handheld wand extractor or a combination of all of these, our team is trained to utilize all of them.

When the drywall is affected, commonly known as wicking, our SERVPRO team works diligently in removing all damaged portions so they can be replaced. A common mistake is assuming that damage stops at the highest water level when, in reality, drywall can absorb water well beyond where it was directly in touch with it.

For all your water damage needs, SERVPRO of Northeast Portland is here to help. Call us at (503) 287-4542 and let us leave your home “Like it never even happened.”
